New UNDP Resident Representative officially takes office Indonesia

Jakarta, May 19  2019 – Mr Christophe Bahuet today officially took office as the new Resident Representative of UNDP Indonesia, following the presentation of his credentials to H.E. Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi.

Speaking after presenting his credentials, Mr.Bahuet outlined the strategic vision of UNDP in Indonesia, a bourgeoning middle income nation and a global leader on Sustainable Development Goals  (SDGs) achievement.

“UNDP is continuing its reinvention to become a more agile, responsive, cost-efficient and results-oriented partner that works more effectively with other development partners to support Indonesia in achieving its priorities to advance human development and fast-track the achievement of SDGs,” said Bahuet.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Bahuet served as the UNDP Country Director in Indonesia for 4 years. With 25 years of experience within UNDP, he has previously served in countries such as China, Vietnam, Ghana, Uzbekistan and Ukraine and at the UNDP Headquarters in New York, in the Evaluation Office and in Partnership Bureau.

A French national, Mr. Bahuet holds a master’s degree with honours from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, a diploma in Southeast Asian studies from the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations in Paris, a law degree, and a degree in Russian from the University of Bordeaux.

Mr. Bahuet is a fluent speaker in Bahasa Indonesia as well as Mandarin, Vietnamese, Russian, Spanish, and Italian among others.
