N-Peace Awards 2015: Nominations OpenApr 28, 2015
UNDP Indonesia became a member of the N-Peace Network in 2010. N-Peace is a multi-country network of peace advocates in Asia working on the advancement of women and peace issues. The network is coordinated by UNDP’s Regional Hub and supports women's leadership for conflict prevention, recovery, peacebuilding and more. Other countries that are part of the network include Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar and the Philippines.
One of the initiatives of the N-Peace Network is the N-Peace Awards. Advocates working on women and peace issues are acknowledged for their achievements and efforts through these Awards, with a ceremony taking place every year in October. Nominations of peacebuilders from Indonesia can be made in three different categories:
UNTOLD STORIES – Women transforming their Communities: In this category grassroots women who are champions of peace within their communities are celebrated. There will be one winner from each of the six participating countries.
CAMPAIGNING FOR ACTION – Women and Men Mobilizing for Peace: This category recognizes both women and men whose national-level mobilization and advocacy efforts have resulted in the advancement of women, peace and security issues. There will be one female and one male winner.
THE PEACE GENERATION – Young Women and Men Building Peace: This category is open to both women and men aged under 30 years. Recognized here are young people whose work for transformation in conflict, post-conflict or fragile communities or countries has resulted in the advancement of women, peace and security issues. Nominees in this category are the future peace leaders of Asia. There will be one female and one male winner.
Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their work for peace or conflict prevention in their community? You can nominate online here: http://n-peace.net/nominate. Nominations will close on Friday, 8 May.
