Indonesia has a long and illustrious history of women’s participation in politics, dating back to pre-independence period. From independence heroes to warriors of women’s rights, the country has a list of notable women making impact to country’s progress. Watch this short video made by UNDP’s SWARGA (Women’s Participation and Representation in Governance in Indonesia ) project, highlighting the critical role of Indonesian women in the country’s political landscape. UNDP’s SWARGA project is being implemented with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection and supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
